10 Hidden Instagram Tips and Tricks Which You Might Not Know

Instagram is a cool and quirky way to share your life with friends through a series of photos. Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing, and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them either publicly or privately on the app. You can even share your Instagram pictures on most of the social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Flickr. Instagram app is available for free in the Apple App Store and Google Play store.

Over the nearly seven years that it’s existed, Instagram has ballooned from a simple photo sharing app to a social network with more than 600 million users. The app itself has changed significantly over that time, including one recent controversial tweak to display images algorithmically rather than chronologically.

Here are some of the Tips and tricks for Instagram hidden features.

1.Get notifications when your favorite people post.

If you never want to miss an Instagram post from your favorite people, you can choose to get a notification every time a specific person posts a photo. All you has to do is turn on the notification for each person personally.

To turn on notifications for a specific user: Visit that user’s profile, and open up one of their posts. Then, click the three dots in the bottom right-hand corner of the post, and choose “Turn on post notifications” from the menu that appears.

Follow the same steps to stop receiving the notifications.

If you followed above steps and still you don’t receive notifications. Check whether you allowed notifications for Instagram on your mobile phone.

2.Add more information to existing posts

If you posted a picture but forgot to add a certain hashtag to your caption, or perhaps you want to tag a friend in a photo you already published. To do this, press the button above your post that looks like three dots in a row, choose the “Edit” option, and you’ll be able to alter the caption, tag friends, and add a location to that post. However, you can’t change the image itself after it’s posted.

3.View your Photos on A Map

This is one of the useful features of Instagram. The app allows you to view a map full of the locations where all your pics were taken (that is, provided your enabled location services and geolocation for the pics). To view your Instagram snaps on a map go to your profile and tap the map icon (it look like an upside-down guitar pick).

4.Use Popular Hashtags to attract more followers

If you’re an Instagram user who wants to have a massive following, you’re going to need to attract people. To do that, you usually need to be a popular star, brand, or very pretty girl. However, you can also leverage the use of popular hashtags to get more followers. A simple Google search for “popular Instagram hashtags” will let you know what’s currently trending. Just only use the hashtags that are appropriate to your picture.

5.Embed your Instagram Pics on the web

Instagram has a great app but only a rudimentary website that not many people visit in their desktop browsers. So what happens if you want people to view your Instagram pics on the web? The best thing to do is just embed them on your personal website. To do this go to www.instagram.com and log into your account. Click on the pic you want to embed then click on the three . . . button, then click embed and copy and paste the HTML code into your website.

6.Send disappearing Photos and Videos

Instagram added a Snapchat-like feature last year that makes it possible to send images and videos that disappear once the recipient has viewed them. To do this, launch the camera within Instagram, snap a photo or record a video, and tap the arrow icon in the lower right corner of the screen. From there, you’ll be able to choose which friends will receive your temporary photo or video. You can only send these types of posts to Instagram members that follow you or have chosen to receive private messages from you.

7.Look through Pictures without worrying about accidentally Liking them.

Live in fear no more. This is more of a hack than a feature, but here goes: To look through someone’s Instagram photos without “double-tap paranoia,” scroll through their feed while in airplane mode. Without internet access, you won’t be able to Like their photo even if you accidentally double-tap it.

The pictures won’t load in the first place if you start on airplane mode, though. You’ll have to go to the feed first so the pictures load, then turn on airplane mode, then start scrolling. When you reach the end and need to load more pictures, simply turn airplane mode off, let more load, and then turn it on again.

8.Make your account private

If you aren’t a person who wants the whole world following you. Did you know you can make your Instagram profile private? This ensures that only people you choose can view your stream because you need to approve them when they request to follow you. To make your Instagram account private go to your profile, tap on settings, and then enable Private Account.

9.Use Instagram as a photo editor

If you love Instagram’s filters and editing capabilities, but you don’t necessarily want to post the photo to your account right now. To use Instagram as a photo editor without posting anything, all you need to do is publish a picture while your phone is on airplane mode.

First, be sure you have “Save Original Photo” turned on in your settings. Then turn on airplane mode on your phone.

Follow the normal procedure for uploading photos. Upload the photo, edit it and press Share. You will see an error message saying that upload failed but you can find the edited image in your gallery.

10.Drive traffic to an external website.

Most of the people think Instagram isn’t a great platform for driving traffic away from the app to a website, a Twitter page, or somewhere else. Because clickable URLs aren’t allowed anywhere except the single “website” box in your bio.

If you put to a URL in a photo caption, it’ll appear as plain text, meaning users would have to painstakingly copy the URL, open a web browser, and paste or type it in there.

One sneaky way to get people to visit your Instagram profile, which is where that one clickable URL is allowed, is to use your photo captions to encourage people to visit your profile for a link. Then, update that URL frequently to point to your latest blog content, YouTube video, product, or offer.

Instagram has many more hidden features that most of the people don’t know about those hidden features. Use the above tricks and make your profile look like a professional.
