“The opportunity to be yourself and discover your potential!”
Parties, cool senior, best friends forever, late night meals and studies, and much more. College seems so much fun when you are starting off. Every student looks forward to this journey, even when they know they are going to make mistakes and learn lessons for the lifetime. We make friends here for the life time and these friends turned into family. There’s lot of excitement, but that’s not the entire picture.
Before entering into college, we take college life as in we see in movies. There is a secret hope to be on teacher’s favourite list, to be hottest girl or coolest dude of college, to find your soul mate, and in all this classes seem to take a backseat. Some enjoy the idea of being able to come to class late, leave when they want, and pretty much have say-so of their own lives now that their parents are out of the picture. Just a week in college and u know reality is quite different than what u expected. There are assignments, internals, vivas, projects, deadlines and exam one after another which make you feel like you are at school again.
FREEDOM TO CHOOSE YOUR INTEREST
You may wonder about meeting new people or making new friends at college. One of biggest benefits to meet new people is going out of your comfort zone. It will turn you from being an introvert to extrovert. The important thing is to take that first step. Don’t just get stuck in your room. Introduce yourself to others. Invite your new friends out. Wearing just a friendly face can help you a lot to adjust in new surroundings.
College life schedules are difficult to manage and balance. There are lots of things to be done in a day by a college student like studying, working, socializing, housework etc. Moreover college students must find time in their busy schedule to study too. In order to keep up they must do daily assignments, read up till late at night, take notes in class and outside the class and much more. There are exams conducted at the end of the semester which require hours of studying. Waiting until a last minute is not a wise decision in order to pass and believe me, once if you fail in exams sitting for re-exam is a tedious job.
Are you interested in playing sports in college? Guys involve yourself in some kind of sports in college. As working and studying whole day will make you dull. Playing sports is one kind of stress buster too. Inform your college authorities and coaches about your interest in sports. Most of times it may happen that coaches do not know about up and coming athletics. While playing sports you may even land up in getting a good scholarship from college.
INTERACT WITH PROFESSORS
You need to get know to all your professors and teachers. If possible go to their offices and talk to them face to face. Let them even know that you are not here just to have fun. You must develop a good and healthy relationship with your teachers so that you can talk to them comfortably in time of need.
HOME Vs COLLEGE LIFE
You finally graduated from high school and now are going off to college. Well for those who are going to college, one might think college life will be easier to live at than at home; in fact, home life is easier than college life. College life involves a lot more responsibilities than home life. As in here you have to take care of each and every small thing which were before taken care by your parents, for instance getting up early by yourself, preparing your college clothes, taking care of your laundry and meals, tidying up your room almost every day etc. Moreover studies are much more difficult and different than the one which you used to study during your high school days.
